Watch ‘The Last 5 Years’
MANILA, Philippines - Originally an off-Broadway play, The Last 5 Years will return to the local stage to tell the story of Jamie and Cathy, whose relationship is crumbling. The play is presented in a non-linear fashion, with Jamie narrating from the beginning, while Cathy goes backwards starting at the end. They only meet when their timelines intersect. Vulture called it “heartbreaking” and a “cruel balance of joy and despair; someone is always high, someone hurting.” The local adaptation will star Nikki Gil and Joaquin Valdes and it opens today at the Carlos P. What would you tell your future self? That’s what Bianca Catbagan attempted to answer in her documentary Letters to the Future. The result is a rich collection of perspectives from people of different backgrounds.
