MANILA, Philippines - Marcus Douthit is hurting outside and rejoicing inside.

"It's hurting right now, it's hurting a lot," the starting center for Gilas Pilipinas said of his injury that kept him out of the entire second half of the game against South Korea the other night.

Douthit hurt his right shin in the game against Qatar a few days back and hurt it again in the crucial match against the South Koreans.

Douthit watched from the bench as Gilas carved out a historic win and earned a slot to the 2014 World Championship in Spain.

He couldn't find enough words to describe the win.

"That's the most amazing feeling," said the naturalized Filipino citizen on his way out of the Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday.

The Los Angeles Lakers draftee in 2004 left the game after logging in two points and three rebounds in 13 minutes of action.

The 6-foot-11 Douthit said if he could have his way he'd sit out the final match against Iran.

"I won't play - got to rest up for Spain," he said.

"All of us are going down in the record books and that's big for me right now. Jimmy (Alapag) told me we'd probably wake up in the morning screaming that we're going to Spain.

"It's a great feeling and no one can compare this feeling to anything else in the world," he said.

That's how he feels inside.
