Mapua, San Beda battle for high school hoops supremacy

Mapua and San Beda are the two most titled high school teams in the NCAA today with 20 championships apiece. Only one will get to embrace history after Saturday.

Six-peat-seeking Lions start search for new coach

Moments after sweeping Arellano University to claim a fifth straight senior basketball title and 19th overall at the MOA Arena in Pasay City Wednesday, San Beda is setting its sights on accomplishing another milestone - an unprecedented six-peat feat.

Champs claim 5-peat over Chiefs, taking Lions' share

San Beda nailed its fifth straight championship by rolling past an overmatched Arellano U side, 89-70, yesterday, completing a sweep of this year's NCAA men's basketball crown and firming up its claim as the league's most dominant team the last 10 years.

Lions extend reign, win fifth-straight crown

San Beda went on an unforgiving run in the first half and never looked back, hammering out a one-sided 89-70 victory over a jittery Arellano University Wednesday to complete a sweep and stretch its dynastic reign to another season before a sea of red and blue at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

I witnessed history Saturday. I marked the date, August 16, 2014, the place, The Arena in San Juan City, and the event, the NCAA All-Star. It's actually the first ever All-Star event in the 90-year history of the NCAA. So we could all say everything that happened for the whole seven hours is historic.
