Alaska's Vic Manuel launches for a shot against the defense of GlobalPort's Kelly Nabong and Yousef Taha  | PBA Media Bureau

MANILA, Philippines — Alaska had to dig deep within to defeat a pesky GlobalPort side in overtime, 105-98, Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Trailing by as many as 13, the Aces banked on a collective effort in the fourth period to send the game to an extra period and keep their winning streak alive.

Vic Manuel led Alaska with 21 points. JVee Casio and Chris Bancher each chimed in 16 points to help the Aces weather a hot shooting by GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle and Sean Anthony.

Pringle and Anthony could’ve reprised their prolific scoring in overtime but they ran out of gas.

"Honestly, I don't think coaches get appreciated enough but Pido deserves a lot of credit,” Alaska mentor Alex Compton said.

"GlobalPort has been playing great. We're so fortunate to come away with this. Hats off to the players, they didn't give up, they kept on going,” he added.

The Aces have won their sixth straight after their conquest of the Batang Pier. They have not lost since dropping their first two outings.

On Sunday, Alaska faces NLEX, which is also coming off an upset of the crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra. GlobalPort, on the other hand, takes on TNT on Valentine’s Day.
