Kristina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Bong Quinto turned in a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds as Wangs Basketball-Letran routed AMA Online Education, 93-75, to gain an early share of the lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center yesterday.

The Couriers picked up their pace in the second quarter and went full throttle in the second half on their way to posting leads of as many as 22 points in the fourth before settling for an 18-point triumph.

“I liked our mid-second and third quarter showing because at the start, they seemed to be too excited. But when they got their rhythm, we were able to run our game well,” said Wangs coach Jeff Napa.

Quinto poured in 13 of his total output in the middle quarters. He also finished with six assists and a steal.

Zark’s Burgers-Lyceum built a 15-point lead at the half and never wavered as it walloped Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College, 112-75, to bounce back from its opening game setback to Marinerong Pilipino.

CJ Perez paced the Jawbreakers with 21 points he spiked with 10 rebounds, three steals and one assist while Jesper Ayaay, Mike Nzeusseu, Jaycee Marcelino and Jeric Serrano backed him up with 15, 14, 12 and 10 points, respectively.
