TNT cuts off Meralco
MANILA, Philippines — TNT let Meralco enjoy a lead for just 43 seconds. After making a triple via Troy Rosario, KaTropa never looked back.
TNT went out with guns blazing against Meralco in a rare affair at the Ynares Center in Antipolo in The Rizal, besting their sister team, 99-81, on Sunday night.
Rosario remained as the spearhead of the KaTropa offense, pacing all scorers with 22 points. RR Garcia chimed in 18 markers while last season’s top rookie Roger Pogoy added 15 more.
“We knew going to this game that Meralco was undermanned. We knew that they lacked the people going to this game today so ang mentality namin was to take advantage of that,” TNT mentor Nash Racela said in the post-game presser.
"Today from start to end, we were able to do that. The intensity level was consistent. Siguro medyo bumababa ng kaunti but kaunting-kaunti lang. That's our goal as a team, maging consistent on both ends,” he closed.
The Bolts managed to trip the lead to just five in the third frame behind Baser Amer and Jared Dillinger’s production, but they were only the Meralco cagers to breach the double-digit mark.
TNT improves to a 3-2 record in the all-Filipino conference. The Bolts, on the other hand, skid to their third straight loss in five outings, giving them a 1-4 card.Te scores
