MANILA, Philippines – As far as similarities are concerned, Paul Lee and Kiefer Ravena have a lot in common.

First, they play the same position. Second, they were drafted second overall in their respective draft days. Third, they opened their PBA career under head coach Yeng Guiao. Fourthly, they both served for flag and country.

But the most important bit? They both appreciate each other’s game.

In Magnolia’s tussle with NLEX on Saturday night, the veteran Lee emerged with the victory. But if we look at the scoring department, it was the rookie whose fingerprints were all over the game.

During his first game in the pro ranks, Ravena’s mentor Guiao likened the rookie to top-tier guards in Johnny Abarrientos, Mike Cortez and his last ward Lee.

"Of course [I’m] very happy,” Lee’s said on the comparisons with the newcomer. “Kasi pagka 'yung coach na ang nagsasabi ng ganoon, may nakita siyang kakaiba.”

Lee is only the first of Ravena’s many tough assignments as the PBA progresses. After Magnolia, NLEX takes on San Miguel Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.

The Road Warriors then move to lock horns with Chris Tiu and Rain or Shine next week, Scottie Thompson and Barangay Ginebra first week of February and then Baser Amer and Meralco shortly after.

The second-generation cager then caps off the string of tough opposition when they clash with Chris Banchero and the Alaska Aces on February 11.
