NHA, AFP dispute outright UNTV semis slot

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Streaking National Housing Authority and two-time champion Armed Forces of the Philippines dispute one of the two outright semis berths as they clash tomorrow in the sixth UNTV Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center.

Coming off a come-from-behind victory over the Senate Defenders last Sunday, the NHA Builders will be coming into their 5 p.m. duel slightly favored over the AFP Cavaliers.

Both teams tote 7-1 records.

“Our win last time was a big one, we hope we can sustain the momentum,” said NHA coach and former UST hotshot Benet Palad.

Expected to lead the Builders are Alvin Vitug, Tony Lustestica and John Dizon while ex-Letran star Boyet Bautista spearheads AFP’s assault along with Jerry Lumongsod and Willy Casulla Jr.

Meantime, the Defenders hope to get back on the winning track when they tangle with the PDEA Drugbusters at 3:30 p.m. while the GSIS Furies collide with the Malacañang-Philippine Sports Commission Kamao at 2 p.m. in the tournament for public servants.

Despite absorbing a 90-82 setback to the Judiciary side, the Furies (5-3) are confident they can beat the Kamao (5-2) in the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon.

The chosen charity of the champion team will get P4 million while the charity picked by the runner-up receives P2 million.
