Cargo Movers seek 6th win in row vs HD Spikers
MANILA, Philippines — Unbeaten F2 Logistics tries to solidify its hold of the top spot as it clashes with Cignal HD today while Generika-Ayala hopes to get past winless Victoria Sports-UST at resumption of the Chooks-to-Go Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Cargo Movers rolled to their fifth straight victory with a straight-set win over the Tigresses in Batangas last Saturday, moving past heavyweights Petron and Foton, toting identical 5-1 slates, for the solo lead.
They are tipped to stretch their run when they go up against the HD Spikers, who are at fifth spot with a 2-3 card, at 7 p.m.
Former Olympian Maria Jose Perez of Venezuela and American Kennedy Bryan have been dishing out superb games for F2 Logistics, which also boasts of former and current La Salle stars.
But Cignal HD hopes to come out strong coming off a long break with reinforcements American Alexis Matthews and Australian Beth Carey ready to lead the team to a follow-up to their romp over Iriga City last Nov. 11.
Meanwhile, the Lifesavers try to improve their 2-4 mark as they tangle with the Victoria Sports-UST side at 4:15 p.m.
Trinidad and Tobago national team member Darlene Ramdin and former Arizona Wildcats duo of outside hitter Katarina Pilepic and setter Penina Snuka are again expected to spearhead Generika-Ayala’s attack against the Tigresses, who are priming up for the UAAP volley wars early next year.
