LUCENA CITY, Quezon — It was Greg Slaughter’s first-ever PBA Finals.

But jitters? There were none. Not even signs of being hampered by a knee injury.

Slaughter proved to be the biggest thorn to Meralco Bolts’ side when Barangay Ginebra drew first blood in their PBA Governors' Cup Finals rematch on Friday night in Lucena City.

But he’s not letting any of that get into his head. He’s simply happy to get the win.

"I'm just glad we got the win. It's kinda tough. You got a long ride home. Just glad we're coming back (to Manila) with a win,” the Kings' big man said.

Asked about his confident and equally compelling performance, Slaughter said "I didn't feel too much pressure.”

The 6-foot-11 slotman registered a stat line of 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in Ginebra's masterful win over Meralco.

Slaughter went on to laud the Gin Kings’ team effort, as only two players fielded in the game were unable to register a point.

"Everyone chipped in and did their part,” the fit-again Gin King said.

The win, Slaughter added, puts them in a good spot with only a day to prepare for Game Two.

“The good thing about winning is they [Meralco] are the ones that have to adjust to us,” he offered. "We can improve on our game plan.”

“Being up gives us the advantage because the loser has to adjust to the winner,” he closed.

We’ll get to see if Meralco will be able to make the necessary adjustments and level the playing field
