MANILA, Philippines — Stephen Curry is arguably the face of the Golden State Warriors, and even the NBA.

And why not? Curry is considered as one of the greatest shooters in league history.

He led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975 in 2015, and won the MVP plum that season.

But he took a back seat last year when the Warriors signed Kevin Durant.

The Athletic reported that Golden State majority owner Joe Lacob considered giving Curry a contract extension below max level.

But general manager Bob Myers "kept Lacob from bringing a reduced offer to the negotiating table."

"Curry went from on top of the world to second fiddle in the very franchise has served as the cornerstone," the report said.

All is well for one half of the Splash brothers as he signed a five-year, $201 million extension with the Dubs, and the team has a good chance of capturing a second straight title.
