Manganti’s game-winning follow-up tows Falcons past Maroons
MANILA, Philippines — Adamson’s Sean Manganti scored on a put-back with two ticks left in the game as the Soaring Falcons escaped with a 73-71 win over the UP Fighting Maroons in the 80th UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.
After his go-ahead basket that came off a Papi Sarr miss, Manganti clamped down on Paul Desiderio in the final play, foiling the Maroons’ bid to send the game to overtime.

Jerrick Ahanmisi led Adamson with a career-best 21 points. He added two boards, two assists and two steals while coming off a perfect shooting clip from the field.
Jerie Pingoy chipped in 10 points while Manganti finished with eight.
Paul Desiderio and Jun Manzo tallied 19 points each. But that wasn’t enough to keep the momentum in favor of the Maroons as they failed to protect a lead that stretched by as many as 14 points.
The win propels Adamson to a 4-2 win-loss card, which is good for the third spot in the league ladder.
UP, on the other hand, dropped to the fifth spot with three wins and three losses.
The Falcons will try to wrap their first round campaign against FEU this Saturday, while the Fighting Maroons are set to take on the slumping National University Bulldogs the next day.
