Azkals’ Bahadoran sustains shoulder injury

MANILA, Philippines — The injury woes continue for the Philippine Azkals as midfielder Misagh Bahadoran sustained a busted shoulder that will sideline him in the nationals’ Asian Cup Qualifiers match against Yemen next month in Qatar.

Bahadoran suffered a dislocated acromioclavicular joint while playing for Global Cebu FC in a losing Philippines Football League match against Ceres Negros FC last Sunday in Bacolod and will need at least a month to recover.

The Fil-Iranian thus ruled himself out when the Group F leaders Azkals (seven points) seek a crucial victory versus second-running Yemen (five points) on Oct. 10 in Doha and boost their bid for a historic stint in the 2019 Asian Cup.

Before Bahadoran took a hit, the Azkals already lost the services of forward Javier Patino and defender Amani Aguinaldo, who are down with major knee injuries.

Bahadoran dislocated his shoulder in the first half of Global’s duel with rival Ceres, going down on a challenge with an opponent landing accidentally on his shoulder.

He had previously missed the Azkals’ ACQ opening match versus Nepal last March at Rizal Memorial Stadium after hurting his knee in a preceding friendly with Malaysia.
