TNT’s Racela, GlobalPort’s Romeo fined for misconduct
MANILA, Philippines — The PBA on Wednesday issued fines amounting to a total of P37,000.
Talk N' Text KaTropa head coach Nash Racela has been assessed a P17,000 fine for a number of reasons after their win over the Star Hotshots last Sunday.
Racela will pay P2,000 for entering the court during their game, P5,000 for pointing an accusing finger at an official, and P10,000 for issuing statements detrimental to the league.
Despite the Texters’ 104-99 victory, Racela was irate in the post-game interview and questioned the game's officiating.
He was slapped with a technical foul in the fourth quarter for entering the court, but Racela called out officials because Star's head coach, Chito Victolero, did the same but was only issued a warning.
Meanwhile, GlobalPort Batang Pier's Terrence Romeo will pay P20,000 for throwing the ball at Blackwater Elite's Henry Walker.
All fines will go to the PBA Players' Trust Fund, which shoulders the scholarship program of retired players.
