Kamao rally past Builders, share UNTV lead
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang pulled off a come-from-behind 92-90 victory over National Housing Authority even as Department of Agriculture and Department of Health beat fellow newcomers in the sixth UNTV Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center last weekend.
Erick dela Cuesta fired 29 points while Christian Luanzon sparkled late in the game to finish with 22 points as the Malacañang Kamao battled back from 56-73 down to foil the NHA Builders and join DA Food Masters of Sec. Manny Piñol in the early Group B lead.
The Food Masters, on the other hand, leaned on ex-pro Ulysses Tanigue to edge the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, 104-100, in another tight game in the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon for the country’s public servants.
A former member of the Philippine Youth team, Tanique finished with 26 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals.
In the other result, the DOH Healthy Achievers demolished the Commission on Audit Enablers, 122-95, for a share of the early Group A lead with the defending champion PNP Responders in the tournament offering P4 million to the champion with the runner-up receiving P2 million.
