Letran, San Beda-B post wins in Fr. Martin cagefest

MANILA, Philippines — The Letran Knights drew big baskets from Coy Galvelo to stop La Consolacion College, 72-67, in the senior division games of the 15th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament over the weekend at the LCC gymnasium on Mendiola Street in Manila.
Galvelo came up with 25 points to lead the Knights to their second win in three games in Group A.
Scoring thrice in the last 1:23, Galvelo’s efforts helped the Knights keep their hopes alive in getting a seat in the quarterfinals of this cagefest which is supported by Slick Tight Hair Pomade.
In another senior encounter, Conrad Catapusan shot 21 points as the Adamson Falcons prevailed over Arellano University, 76-71.
The Falcons went on to post their fourth victory in five outings in Group B.
They had earlier put away National University-B, 88-73.
In the junior division, Carl Barreiro hit 18 points, including a winning triple in the 46 seconds, propelling the San Beda-Manila B Red Kittens to a 69-65 beating of the Philippine Cultural College Seagulls.
It was the Red Kittens’ first triumph in three games in Group A.
Lloyd Oliva shot 17 points for the Mapua Red Robins in their 77-72 win over the San Beda-Manila A Red Kittens.
This earned the Red Robins their third triumph in five matches in Group B.
