MANILA, Philippines — It's a strong start for the Filipinas.
 
The Philippine national women's volleyball team swept host country Malaysia, 25-18, 25-11, 25-16, to start on a high note their 2017 Southeast Asian Games campaign at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center Thursday.
 
The Filipina volleybelles came firing with 43 attacks points led by the towering Jaja Santiago, who finished with 13 points.
 
Abigail Maraño added 11.
 
The Philippines now has a sure spot in the semifinals as Malaysia dropped to 0-2 in the group standings. They will next face reigning silver medalists Vietnam.
