Cignal, CEU begin PBA D-L title series

MANILA, Philippines - Cignal HD sets out for a second straight championship against a team which toppled the pre-tournament favorite in style as Game One of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup finals begins today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Centro Escolar University hopes to keep the momentum of its morale-boosting semis triumph over fancied Flying V as the Scorpions face the Hawkeyes in the opener of their best-of-three series at 5 p.m.

CEU bowed to Flying V, 61-65, in the opener of their Final Four duel as the Thunder stretched their unbeaten run in the elims and looked headed to a trouble-free ride to the title playoffs.

But the Scorpions hacked out a 93-72 shocker in Game Two then repeated over the Thunder, 72-67, to snatch the other finals berth.

For its part, Cignal HD took care of Marinerong Pilipino and posted a sweep of their semis playoff to gain another crack at the championship after ruling the Aspirants’ Cup.
