Brazilians conquer ONE card in Macau
MACAU — Call it Brazilians’ night.
Bibiano Fernandes and Adriano Moraes convincingly beat their respective foes in ONE Championship’s “Kings and Conquerors’ on Saturday night.
Fernandes extended his spotless reign after making a quick work of Andrew Leone. Moraes, for his part, dealt Kairat Akhmetov his first loss in 24 fights via a unanimous decision to become the undisputed ruler of the flyweight division.
“I feel great,” Fernandes told the crowd at the Cotai Arena. “I am here to stay. I welcome all challenges. I want to continue fighting. Whoever I have to fight, I will accept — I am always ready."
Fernandes has defended his title for a record seven times now.
“I’m not surprised [with the victory]. Thank you very much, one more time, for the opportunity, ONE Championship,” Moraes said shortly after topping Akhmetov in the unification match.
The Philippines, too, was able to snare a victory courtesy of Jomary Torres, who posted an impressive debut against Rika Ishige of Thailand.
The two other Filipinos — the returning Eric Kelly and former title challenger Joshua Pacio — were unable to take home a win.
Kelly ran out of gas against grizzled veteran Kotetsu Boku, while Pacio was easily dispatched by Hayato Suzuki by way of submission.
The other results include:
