MANILA, Philippines — All praises should go to their unsung hero.

While Alyssa Valdez unleashed her scoring form Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference with a 37-point explosion, the Phenom said all credit should go to their setter, Jia Morado.

Valdez led the Creamline Cool Smashers to a win over Reinforced Conference runner-up BaliPure Water Defenders, 25-20, 28-30, 25-19, 31-29, at the FilOil Flying-V Centre in San Juan.

A new addition to the team, the ex-Ateneo ace setter dished 71 excellent sets to orchestrate the Cool Smasher's offensive barrage.

Aside from Valdez, two other Creamline players finished in double digits, with open spiker Rose Vargas chalking 19 while middle blocker Pau Soriano adding 14 points.

"Honestly, si Jia very composed siya sa loob ng court. Siya talaga ang nagli-lead sa amin throughout the game," Valdez said.

"Kahit ano mangyari, may tiwala at magtitiwala pa rin siya sa 'yo."

Valdez and Morado teamed up for the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles and won back-to-back championships in UAAP Seasons 76 and 77.

The Cool Smashers will stake their unbeaten record against the Philippine Air Force on Sunday at the same venue.
