Up next: Pacquiao fight in November

Abac Cordero - The Philippine Star

BRISBANE, Australia -- Manny Pacquiao’s personal adviser, Michael Koncz, is looking at the UAE, in November, as the site of the Filipino boxer’s next fight.

That’s if Pacquiao gets past his younger and taller opponent here Sunday at the Suncorp Stadium.

“I’m working on some things,” said Koncz, who even while Pacquiao trained for this fight with Australian Jeff Horn, has been working on the next one.

“I still think that other than a rematch with Floyd Mayweather which I don’t think is gonna happen, the most lucrative fight right now is Amir Khan in the UAE,” he said.

“That’s what I’m working on. They’re still in play and I was there over a month ago,” said Koncz, making sure that this time, there’ll be money on the table.

Last March, it was announced that Pacquiao was to fight British star Amir Khan in the United Arab Emirates, and that over $30 million was guaranteed.

It turned out, however, that Koncz was not talking to the right people. In no time, the fight was off, and Pacquiao ended up with Jeff Horn.

This time, Koncz is making sure everything is right.

“I met with a different group, a real group with real money and I spent four days there in meetings, and it’s real. It’s a legitimate group with 7,000 worldwide employees,” he said.

“It’s a real possibility and they’re (UAE group) eager to do it. Hopefully we can do the same thing in Dubai,” Koncz added.
