NU, UE repel Dickies rivals

MANILA, Philippines -  Three-time UAAP champion National University trounced Ateneo, 59-50, while University of the East turned back La Salle, 50-45, at the start of the PCABL Dickies Cup at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City last weekend.

Kaye Pingol and Rhena Itese combined for 18 points while Jack Animam, Ria Nabalan and Trixie Antiquera scored seven points each for the defending champion Lady Bulldogs of coach Pat Aquino.

The Lady Warriors, meanwhile, drew big games from Unique Chan and LJ Sto. Domingo as they outlasted the Lady Archers even as the Adamson Lady Falcons rallied to beat the UP Lady Maroons, 77-59, in the tournament sponsored by Smart Communications, Powerhouse and CW Home Depot.
