MANILA, Philippines - Tanduay torched Gamboa Coffee Mix with a record 53-point spree in a quarter as the Rhum Masters rallied to score a 113-71 victory in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig yesterday.
The Rhum Masters came out of the break in full throttle, stringing 23 straight points on their way to posting the most points in a quarter in league history. From a 34-37 deficit at the half, the Rhum Masters took an 87-49 bulge heading to the last 10 minutes of play en route to a 3-1 card.
In the second game, Batangas fought back from 15 points down in the third period and clobbered Zark’s Burgers, 124-84, to keep its spot at second at 4-1 behind the unbeaten Flying V (4-0).
Cedrick Ablaza led the Batangueños’ 24-6 run in the third as they turned a 28-43 deficit into a 66-58 lead with 4:48 left in the quarter.
