MANILA, Philippines - Michole Sorela stepped up in the clutch as Wangs Basketball stunned Racal Motors, 93-84, yesterday to boost its bid in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Sorela poured in 10 of his 13 points in the stretch to help the Couriers quell the Alibaba’s uprising and hike their mark to 3-2, the franchise best since it joined the league in 2013.

Jeron Teng fired all but one of Flying V’s last nine points as the Thunder rallied from 18 points down to beat the Marinerong Pilipino Skippers, 83-78, and stretch their win run to four in the other game.

Earlier, holding on to a 70-68 lead early in the fourth, Wangs unleashed an 11-4 attack anchored on Sorela with Chris Bitoon capping the run with a triple as the Couriers raced to another 81-72 lead with 3:49 left in the contest.

“We had a good win last time out so it boosted the morale of the players. I hope this will continue in our coming games,” said Wangs Basketball coach Pablo Lucas.

Bitoon finished with 22 points, including 13 in the last two quarters, Robert Herndon contributed 17 points and 13 rebounds to make up for five turnovers while Christian Dechavez also had 13 markers for Wangs.

“This is all about team effort, chemistry,” added Lucas, whose wards kept their composure after the Alibaba pulled to within 68-70 and countered with an 11-4 run.

Marlon Gomez shot 15 points and pulled six rebounds for Racal Motors, who fell to its second straight loss after sweeping its first two games.

Roider Cabrera shot 3-of-8 from beyond the arc to collect 14 markers, while Gwynne Capacio had 12 points and four boards for Racal.
