MANILA, Philippines – Throughout the first half of the NBA Finals' Game One, the game looked like anybody's.

Until the third quarter.

Kevin Durant kept his sweet shooting in the second half to go with a sizzling showing by Steph Curry. The duo combined for 21 points in that frame alone to keep their backs far from the Cavaliers' reach.

That looked like the turning point of the game.  Only LeBron James believed it wasn't.

"It wasn't just the third quarter, it was the whole game," the Cleveland Cavaliers star said. "It started with myself having some turnovers, especially in the first half.

"I pride myself on not turning the ball over, and I did it too much," he added.

James committed eight turnovers in the loss to their trilogy rivals.

As if the scoreboard wasn't enough a gloomy picture of the outcome, the Warriors registered only four errors in the game—two from Curry and Draymond Green each.

The defending champions, on the other hand, summed for 20.

And while the turnovers alone were tough to deal with, James added that Golden State had one thing that stood out in their tussle on Friday.

"KD," James said. "I mean, you take one of the best teams  ... you add a high-powered offensive talent like that and a great basketball IQ like that, that's what stands out."

But the four-time league Most Valuable Player who shared summer workouts with another MVP in Durant, bared that the latter and his team's nearly-flawless performance didn't come as a surprise.

"I wasn't surprised at anything," James said. "They are a high-powered offensive team. They can shoot the ball from the perimeter, they can get into the paint. They do everything exceptionally well, if not great. So [I'm] never surprised by anything that they can do."

Asked if they were victims of focusing too much on the Warriors' 3-point tendencies, the eight-time NBA Finals participant begged to differ.

"We [were] victims of [ourselves]," James offered. "Like I said, we had 20 turnovers, and there's no way you're going to win a ball game having 20 turnovers against this team and on the road. But at the end of the day, we gave up a lot in transition. They had 27 points on fast breaks."

"We made a lot of mistakes. There's nothing really needs to be said. We know we're capable of playing a lot better," James noted.  "We didn't play as well as we know we're capable of, so we look forward to the next one." – Denison Rey A. Dalupang
