MANILA, Philippines - San Beda seeks to keep its hold of the Group A lead as it clashes with La Salle today in a duel of powerhouse teams in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup at the Filoil Center in San Juan.

The Lions, the NCAA champions, overpowered the University of the East Warriors, 68-55, Friday to remain unscathed in two outings and atop the heap in their bracket.

But they’re likely to be tested by the resurgent Archers, the UAAP titlists, in their 5 p.m. setto.

Far Eastern U and State U also look to keep their clean slates over in Group B as they take on Mapua and Adamson, respectively.

The Tams, drawing strength from rookie RJ Ramirez, bested the National U Bulldogs, 88-77, Friday to catch up with the Maroons, who edged the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals, 61-59, Wednesday.

Hubert Cani, however, will be a doubtful starter for FEU after tweaking his ankle in their last game.

“We will play back-to-back games for the first time this tournament and I might not have Hubert Cani, who is one of my best players off the bench. Someone must step up,” said FEU coach Olsen Racela.

UP may have its hands full against Adamson, which is currently at No. 3 with a 5-1 mark.
