PSC launches Cavite youth program
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Sports Commission will hold its community program KID-S.O.S (Kabataan Iwas Droga-Start on Sports) in Bacoor, Cavite starting next month.
The weekend-only event, aimed at providing the youth of Bacoor City a worthwhile endeavor and keeping them away from vices, has drawn the all-out support of Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, according to PSC commissioner and project director Arnold Agustin.
“This program is in line with President Duterte’s Sports for All Program. We choose Bacoor City as starter but we’re closely coordinated with other Local Government Units in Cavite for future sports partnership,” said Agustin, a long-time resident of the city.
“The PSC believes that sports is a vital tool in leading our youth away from vices. It is among our thrust to conduct various program that will engage the Filipino youth in sports activities,” Agustin added.
Events on tap in the KID-S.O.S program are badminton, table tennis and chess for Sangguniang Kabataan, while zumba ang pencat silat clinics and seminars are for barangay officials and tanod as well as adults to keep them healthy and vibrant.
Under the partnership, the PSC is in charge of the technical personnel, coaches and administrative staff as well as sports supply and equipment, while the city administrator is task on coordination with the participants and designated venues.
Agustin said he was invited by Mercado-Revilla to join the flag-raising program on Monday at the newly built Bacoor City Hall to formalize the partnership.
