Kaya Makati, Global Cebu target PFL second spot

MANILA, Philippines - Kaya FC Makati and Global Cebu FC dispute solo second as they clash in the Philippines Football League’s first-ever weekday fixture tonight at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Kaya and Global tote identical four-point cards and the side that gets the three points in the 7 p.m. showdown moves closer to idle table-topper FC Meralco Manila (nine points).

Global is playing home for the first time in the PFL with Rizal as temporary turf. Global EVP and team manager Josef Malinay said rehab of the club’s real home stadium in Cebu is currently ongoing and will be ready for home games by late June or July.

The two protagonists came off contrasting results in the weekend hostilities with Kaya prevailing over Davao Aguilas at home, 2-0, and Global conceding a late goal in a 1-1 draw with Stallion Laguna FC on the road.
After opening the PFL with a 1-1 standoff with Ceres Negros, Kaya secured a confidence-boosting two-goal victory at the expense of the Aguilas and looks to sustain the momentum in the away game against Global.

The Global booters aim to regain their winning ways after blowing a supposedly won game versus Stallion, who forced the standoff via Matthew Nierras’s last-gasp strike four days ago.
