Tough cast vies in World Slasher Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Magno Lim, Gary Tesorero and Jun Durano seek a repeat while Frank Berin shoots for back-to-back wins in the 2017 World Slasher Cup 2 firing off Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The defending champions field ML G63 against a formidable cast headed by Berin, whose entry Sebastian NEJ, reigned supreme in the first edition of the event last February.
The seven-day invitational nine-cock derby is expected to draw over 200 local and foreign cockers and gamefowl breeders.
“It’s hard to tell (his chances). The field is competitive. But I have confidence in my entry (Firebird),” said three-time titlist Biboy Enriquez during the World Slasher Cup 2 press launch at Novotel Manila Araneta Center yesterday.
Among those present were Filipino participants Dicky Lim, Art de Castro, Ed Aparri, James Uy and Nino Yee as well as international contingents Roger Roberts of Georgia, Butch Cambria of Hawaii and Larry Whitehead.
The two-cock elims will be held May 25-26 while the three-cock semis is set on May 27-28.
Entries which accumulate 2, 2.5, 3 and 3.5 points will advance to the four-cock finals on May 29-30.
On the other hand, those which tally 4, 4.5 and 5 points will slug it out in the four-cock finals on May 31.
