Sadorra trips Indian, shares chess lead

MANILA, Philippines - GM Julio Sadorra stunned seventh seed GM B. Adhiban of India in 50 moves of a French duel last night to seize a share of the lead after the penultimate round of the Asian Continental Chess Championship in Chengdu, China.

Sadorra outplayed Adhiban in the opening with the Black and gained an edge in a brief exchange before holding on at endgame on his way to victory.

With a round to go, Sadorra tied GMs Wang Hao and Bu Xiangzhi of China, who split the point, in the lead with six points.

Top seed GM Yu Yangyi and GM Bai Jinshi later joined them on top with victories over Indian GMs S. P. Sathuraman and Santosh Gujrathi Vidit, respectively.
