MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian leaned on its quickness as it overpowered Emilio Aguinaldo, 79-54, on Wednesday to nail its second straight victory in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

All the Stags needed was a blinding start wherein they buried the Generals early with a 24-6 lead at the end of the opening quarter and never looked back from there to jump to third spot in Group B with a 2-1 (win-loss) record.

Adamson leads the bracket while National U is at second with a pristine 4-0 and 3-0 records, respectively.

Lorenzo Navarro, a transferee from La Salle, led the Stags with 11 points while Mark Sangalang had 10 points and nine rebounds. But it was Michael Calisaan who made things happen in the first half when they led, 44-25.

Calisaan put in all his numbers—eight points, 10 boards and two assists—in  just the 15 minutes he saw action in the first half and never played the rest of the way.

He didn't need to as San Sebastian's second group stepped up.

"Everybody stepped up, from Michael (Calisaan), the other starters and the rest of the second and third groups," said San Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya.

Macaraya also spoke of their defense against 6-11 Cameroonian Hamadou Laminou, whom they held to 10 points, four rebounds, and two blocks, far from his 15-point, 18-rebound, six-block effort in an 85-87 defeat to National U on May 5.

"That was our game plan, to deny him (Laminou) the ball and if he gets it, make life difficult for him," said Macaraya.

The Generals fell to 0-2.
