MANILA, Philippines – The Filoil Flying V Premier Cup cracked the whip on La Salle's Ramil Tero and Santo Tomas' Marvin Lee for fighting late in their elimination round game the Archers eventually won, 109-81, Sunday night.

Tero was assessed a two-game suspension for instigating the fight while Lee was slapped a one-game ban for retaliating in a fracas that resulted to their ejection and sparked a bench-clearing incident with 20 seconds remaining and the match already decided.

"Tero is suspended for two games while Lee one game. Tero received the more severe punishment because he instigated the fight," league commissioner Ato Badolato told The STAR on Monday.

La Salle's Ricci Rivero, Gabe Capacio and Santi Santillan and UST's Carlos Escalambre, Christian Garcia, Jordan Sta. Ana, Jeepy Faundo, Zach Huang and Wendell de Guzman, who were tossed out for bench-clearing, were spared from suspension.

"Based on FIBA rules, suspensions cover players who were ejected for fighting, not bench clearing," said Badolato.

Tero will sit out La Salle's next game against Group A co-leader Lyceum of the Philippines U (3-0) on Friday and reigning NCAA titlist San Beda on May 28 while Lee will serve his in UST's duel with Perpetual Help (0-1) on Friday.

The win was La Salle's second straight after losing to Jose Rizal, 81-85, on opening day last May 1.

UST, in contrast, slid to its third straight defeat in as many outings.
