UFC chief sets Sunday deadline for Mayweather-McGregor bout

MANILA, Philippines — Time is running out for the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight to get made.
At least for one key negotiator, that is.
Dana White, UFC's top honcho and one of the essential figures in drafting the megafight, said that the time to move on is drawing near.
"Definitely," White told Jim Rome in the latter's CBS radio show. "And Conor feels that way, too.
"I plan on having this thing locked on Sunday (Monday in Manila). And then moving to Team Mayweather," the executive said.
White explained the current circumstances for the McGregor side, which justifies the hasting of developments.
"If we really do get down on that time frame, then it couldn't possibly happen," White offered.
The two athletes' clash is one of the most anticipated events of this year. The idea, which gained buzz late last year, has taken progress. But both parties have been flip-flopping on their stances, in a way stunting their gains.
McGregor is one of the top figures to come out of the MMA arena. Meanwhile, Mayweather is a boxing legend who hung his gloves last year. The latter is touting a spot-free pro record, and among his victims is the Philippines' very own boxing living legend, Manny Pacquaio.
