MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao is expected to set foot in the gym Monday, something he said he missed doing, as he starts preparing for his fight with Australian Jeff Horn less than two months from now.

Pacquiao will kick off his nine-week training at the Elorde Gym within the Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City, looking to loosen up after a six-month layoff.

In a report by’s Eddie Alinea, Pacquiao said he is excited to be back to doing the thing he loves the most.

“Here we are again. Back to the salt mine,” the Filipino icon said Sunday after attending church service in Makati.

“Balik-ensayo, balik-boksing at siyempre excited na maka-amoy na naman gym, makapagsuot ng boxing glove, sumuntok sa heavy bag, double end at speed ball,” he added.

The 38-year-old Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title against the younger Horn in Brisbane, Australia on July 2. Although a heavy favorite, the fighting senator isn’t leaving anything to chance.

While time may be on the 29-year-old Horn’s side, Pacquiao is still tipped to win, and his camp has been reported to be more interested in a showdown with Amir Khan later this year.

But Pacquiao insisted that’s not the case, saying he isn’t underestimating Horn.

“Katunayan yan na I’m not taking this fight lightly as some sectors think I am. At hindi ko rin ina-underestimate and kalaban ko,” he continued.

Pacquiao reiterated he’s happy to be back at the gym to shed off some rust.

“It’s been quite a long time since the last time we did this routine, no? Six months na,” said Pacquiao, who last saw action in November last year, dominating Jessie Vargas in Las Vegas for the WBO title.
