CEBU, Philippines - A Southwestern University student has topped the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination given last February, ranking fourth among all takers.

In an announcement by the Professional Regulation Commission last Thursday, Jobet Romar Dela Cruz Gentallan got a score of 89.60 and was the only one from Cebu schools in the top 10 among 2,378 passers out of 3,216 examinees.

In a message sent to The FREEMAN, Dean of the College of Medical Technology Marvi Dulnuan-Niog said that Gentallan had been a consistent honor student and leader in their university.

"We are definitely happy and proud of our student topping the board examination. I think Jobeth is one good example of a student who knows how to manage his time," she said.

She reminded students to commit in their field of studies and work hard by making the right preparation and through prayers.

"The students usually find it hard to manage their time considering the bulk of their academic workload. Sometimes, they are overcome by anxiety due to fear of failing," she said.

The following made up the top 10: Vanessa Leslie Rivera (91.20, Far Eastern University), David Marco Abaya Bildan  (90.6, Saint Louis University), George Vincent Giral Gellena (89.7, Remedios T. Romualdez Medical Foundation) Fatima Jane Paulene Obera Gade (89.5, Remedios T. Romualdez Medical Foundation) and Arnold Joseph Octaviano Geronimo (89.50), Christopher Kim Pugoy Soriño (89.4, Universidad de Zamboanga).

The rest were Renz Michael Hart Velasco Bautista (Saint Louis University) and Rutchelle Joyce Feliciano Pugoy (Universidad de Zamboanga) with 89.20, Irekevin Tura Aytona (Our Lady of Fatima University-QC) with 89.10, Leonard Ray Cayetano Dizon (Centro Escolar University-Manila) with 89, and Glendon Keane Pedro Andam (University of Baguio) and Julie Ann Alcantara de Guzman (Saint Louis University) with 88.80.
