Man dies in Navotas fire

MANILA, Philippines - A man died when a fire struck a residential area in Barangay Nagumbayan South, Navotas City yesterday.

City fire marshal Eduardo Visbal identified the fatality as Tony Lao Ang, 39.

Visbal said Ang’s body was retrieved in the toilet.

The victim could have died of suffocation, Visbal said.

The blaze started at around 11:45 a.m. and was put out before 2 p.m.

Another fire broke out at a metal factory in Barangay Bagbaguin, Valenzuela City at 3 p.m.

Arson probers have yet to establish the cause of the fires.
