Top drivers slug it out in dragfest
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drag Racing Championships Series hits the road tomorrow with the country’s top drivers bracing for another spirited battle for top honors at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Over 200 participants are seeing action in the season opener of the event, sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by M&H and Sparco, which features the modern six-cylinders against the crowd-drawing American V8 muscle cars of Angeles City Hot Rod Association (AHRA)-Garage Power.
This year likewise offers new grounds for drivers to showcase their talents with the addition of the Super Car and Diesel classes, adding to the Quick 8, M&H Super Pro Class (10.99 and quicker), M&H Pro (11.00 sec – 12.49 sec), Expert (12.50 sec – 13.99 sec), Sportsman (14.00 sec – 15.99 sec), and the Hotstreet (16.00 sec and slower) divisions.
The title chase for the Quick 8, M&H Super Pro Class and the M&H Pro classes is also expected to heat up with the overall 2016 season and the 2016 Drag Racing Driver of the Year honors up for grabs. Winners will also become automatic contenders for the 2016 Golden Wheel Driver of the Year award.
The National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) provides participants bigger chances to prove their worth with the annual eight-leg circuit offering separate set of titles for the Northern Series, also set in Clark and the Philippine Drag Racing Championship Southern Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit Drag Strip.
