Sky Range holds one-day shootfest

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Sky Range Shooting Club at Solaire Resort and Casino marks its first anniversary with a one-day club open shoot tomorrow, the first time that the exclusive club will open its doors to non-members.

“We want to give non-members an opportunity to experience this world-class tourist facility through a one-day tournament,” said Sky Range chief operating officer Gerry De Belen, adding that the facility was made by Action Target with 99 different programs.

For his part, Sky Range Shooting Club president Michael Ray Aquino said they are promoting responsible gun ownership.

“The tournament promotes target shooting as more than just a hobby but also as a sport and Sky Range provides the perfect training facility,” Aquino said.

The tournament is composed of three courses of fire with a total of 34 rounds with Virginia Count being used as the scoring system.

The winner of the tournament will take home a 45ACP 1911 A1 Pistol, second place will receive a Carbine Mini Rifle (22lr), and third place will get a Sky Range Day Pass Gift Card worth P10,000.

Registration fee is P5,000, inclusive of the use of firearm, ammunition, tournament shirts and cap, meals and a chance to win raffle prizes. Those who want to come and watch the Club Shoot may register for P1,000.

The P200 million shooting range is the first indoor accredited rifle range in the country and is also the first to be attached to a hotel.

For the meantime, Sky Range has limited its membership to 2,000 individuals with 100 slots exclusively for experts.
