MANILA, Philippines — In front of the hundreds of supporters, mostly from alumni, students and faculty, coach Aldin Ayo of La Salle proudly declared that the Green Archers will aim for the back-to-back UAAP Men’s basketball championship.

During the Animo Night victory celebration in the De La Salle University campus, Ayo also gave credit to his graduating seniors, Jason Perkins, Thomas Torres, Julian Sargent and team captain Jeron Teng, for providing leadership to the team and adjusting to the “mayhem” system.

He also acknowledged the support of the students, faculty, alumni, team management and godfathers who have been actively supporting the team throughout the season.

Asked to compare the two championships he currently now has, he said, “It’s different if you’re the overwhelming favorites. You have to exceed expectations.”

As of now, rather than setting his eyes on a possible return to the professional ranks, Ayo just kept mum about the matter and prefers to “savor this championship with the team.”
