FFABL links up with Gawad Kalinga

MANILA, Philippines – The Football For A Better Life (FFABL) capped its 10-leg nationwide grassroots football development and talent identification program with the Gawad Kalinga Cup at the Ultra football field in Pasig recently.

Various Gawad Kalinga communities fielded in teams and participants in the football festival and the free football clinic sponsored by Pru Life UK and held in partnership with GK.

The clinic drew 300 kids from various GK communities majority of whom took part in the Gawad Kalinga Cup that featured different age group competitions.

The Philippine Sports Commission has recognized the FFABL as a grassroots sports and extended its support by allowing the use of its facilities at the Ultra, according to series organizer Albert Almendralejo, also the president of Spears Activation and PR Co.

Meanwhile, Pru Life UK EVP and CFO Lee Longa said that sports and education are the pillars of Pru Life UK CSR program, adding that they were impressed with the response from the different regions where they held their events.

“We have actually surpassed last year’s number and we are already looking forward to our third year of the series next year,” said Longa.

The Pru Life UK also introduced its educational component during the final leg, a financial literacy campaign among kids anchored on the existing module of Earn-Save-Spend-Donate.
