Smart Philippine Open starts with prized bets in action
MANILA, Philippines - The Smart National Open Badminton 2016 gets going tomorrow with the country’s leading players and upcoming stars clashing for top honors in various divisions at the Powersmash Badminton Center and Vista Mall in Taguig City.
Sarrah Barredo, Kevin Cudiamat, Joper Escueta, Roslee Pedrosa, Frell Gabuelo, Peter Magnaye and Alvin Morada banner the field in the third staging of the event which drew close to 300 entries.
“This is definitely the biggest Open badminton tournament in the country,” said tournament director Yoly Araullo of the event serving as part of the Philippine National Ranking System.
Smart Sports chief Epok Quimpo said the meet is part of the MVP Sports Foundation’s efforts to help discover and develop athletes not just in badminton but in other sports as well.
The four-day tournament is organized by Forthright Events and Sports Management, Inc. and sponsored by Smart, MVPSF, Victor, exclusively distributed by PCome Industrial Sales, BaliPure, Koffee Luwak, Prima Pasta, 100Plus and venue partners Powersmash Badminton Center and Vista Mall Taguig.
