MANILA, Philippines - Titleholder Armed Forces of the Philippines snapped Malacañang’s five-game win run with a 72-67 victory to advance to the second round of the fifth UNTV Cup at the Pasig City Sports Center over the weekend.

Five Cavaliers churned out double-digit scores with Willy Casulla Jr. scoring 14 points as they dominated the Malacañang Kamao from the start and sustained their charge to the finish to stay in the hunt for a second straight championship.

Also delivering for the Cavaliers were Boyet Bautista and Eugene Tan, who combined for 21 points.

With the win, the Cavaliers finished the Group A elims tied for second with Bureau of Fire Protection, which closed out its elims with an 80-73 win over Ombudsman.

Meantime, Sunday’s matches will be aired live on UNTV and www.untvweb.com.
