Missing boy found dead

Michael Vencynth H. Braga - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - An 8-year-old boy who went missing Wednesday evening was found lifeless along Tac-an Road in Sitio Dao in Barangay Budlaan, Cebu City early morning yesterday.

Police recovered the body of the boy, who was a resident of Sitio Banica in neighboring Barangay Talamban, already lying near a fence located a few meters from a road around 6 a.m. yesterday.

The FREEMAN is withholding the boy’s name due to his minority and condition.

Police Officer 2 Marichu Boling of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office said a team led by Senior Police Officer 1 Vicente Ramas headed to the area after receiving information from a concerned citizen about a dead body.

When the investigators arrived, the boy was already stiff and lifeless.

Police noticed several bruises on his left foot, back and buttocks and a contusion on the left side of his head.

Boling said investigation is still being conducted into the death of the child. An autopsy will also be done on the body to determine the cause of his death.

Police could not rule out yet if it was a case of a hit-and-run and the body was only dumped inside the fence.

Quoting the boy’s mother, Boling said the boy did not return home since Wednesday evening.  He reportedly went out of the house past 3 p.m. to look for compact discs as part of his daily routine and collection.

His father looked for him but to no avail.

According to the boy’s mother, she was already anxious since the boy was suffering from mental disorder.

A neighbor of the family also reported that he noticed the child playing along a river around 7 p.m. (FREEMAN)
