AFP, Ombudsman clash for No. 3
MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines takes on Ombudsman today, seeking a crucial win and a berth in the second round of the fifth UNTV Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.
AFP and Ombudsman actually tote similar 2-2 cards with the winner in their 3:30 p.m. showdown gaining the No. 3 seeding in Group A. The remaining spot will be determined through quotient since the loser will drop to a share for fourth with MMDA.
Only the top four teams in each group will advance to the carryover second round.
The Group B cast is already complete made up of newcomer Bureau of Customs, Judiciary, PNP and National Housing Authority.
The Judiciary Magis are already assured of the No. 2 seeding even if they lose to the House of Representatives Solons today.
Malacañang completed a five-game sweep of Group A following a 72-55 drubbing of MMDA.
The winner of the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon will receive P4 million which it will donate to its chosen charity.
