Government employee regrets pedicure session at work
CEBU, Philippines - For being caught getting a pedicure during office hours, an employee of the Lapu-Lapu City government receives a memo from Mayor Paz Radaza and might be facing suspension or even expulsion.
Radaza is asking for an explanation from 60-year-old Carmelita Casinillo, job-order employee at the Manpower and Development Office (MDO) in Lapu-Lapu City, after a photo of Casinillo getting a pedicure while at work went viral on Facebook.
Radaza said that when she saw the photo, she concluded that the incident happened last Monday.
"Ang lugar nga naa sa photo, information office sa CSWD (Office of the City Social Welfare Development.). Ang uniform kay blue so Monday (na nahitabo)," she said.
The session reportedly happened between 10:30 to 11:00 in the morning that day.
Radaza questioned why the employee had the pedicure done during working hours when she would have a lot of free time after office hours.
Casinillo, who has been working as administrative aide for the MDO for 12 years, and a resident of Barangay Bankal, told The Freeman yesterday afternoon that she regrets what she has done, adding that she was not aware that someone had taken her photo.
She explained that one of the toenails on her left foot was giving her pain so when she saw a pedicurist pass by the CSWD office, she asked her to work on her toenails.
"Gikan ko panso, nakakita ko og manicurista didto unya nag-palugit ko sa akong ingrown (nail). Nag-mahay ko. Nangayo ko'g pasaylo ni Ma'am (Paz)," she tearfully relates.
The photo posted in Cebu Flash Report's Facebook page, originally came from Fatima Rosalejos, a resident of Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
Rosalejos was in the CSWD office that day to claim her cash assistance for her dialysis when she saw Casinillo having her toenails done.
Radaza is grateful to Rosalejos for uploading the photo, adding that the city government will act on it immediately.
"We are thankful sa nag-upload. We will not have known about this," Radaza said.
Radaza said that she is not tolerating such acts during office hours and that this will serve as a warning for her other employees.
"All the City Hall employees must be forwarned. Dili gyud na i-tolerate," she said. (FREEMAN)
