MANILA, Philippines - Philippines AirAsia will begin offering direct flights to Singapore from Cebu by next month as part of its plan to promote greater connectivity between the Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia.

In a statement yesterday, Philippines AirAsia said it would operate the flights to Singapore from Cebu starting Nov. 25.

The new flights will be available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Flight Z2 7236 will leave Cebu at 4:55 p.m. and arrive in Singapore at 8:30 p.m., while Flight Z2 7237 will depart Singapore at 9:10 p.m. and be in Cebu by 12:55 a.m.

“The addition of the Cebu-Singapore route enables us to strengthen our Cebu hub and further connect Cebuanos to our ASEAN neighbors,” Philippines AirAsia CEO Dexter Comendador said.

Lael Loh, Singapore Tourism Board area director for the Philippines welcomed the development citing the move would encourage more Filipino tourists to visit Singapore.

To promote the new route, Philippines AirAsia is offering promotional fares on airasia.com for as low as P888 for travel between Nov. 25, 2016 and March 24, 2017.

The promotional fares are available until Oct. 23.

Earlier this month, Philippines AirAsia announced it would open the Cebu to Taipei route by Nov. 25.

“Cebu is emerging as the fastest growing air hub outside Metro Manila and we are here to connect Cebu to Singapore, Taipei, Korea, Malaysia and onto to AirAsia Group’s massive network of over 120 destinations across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Middle East and Africa while providing only the best quality service and products,” Comendador said.

Apart from Singapore and Taipei, the carrier is also increasing flights between Cebu and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from three to four times weekly effective Oct. 29.

At present, the airline also has direct flights from Cebu to Incheon in South Korea.
