MANILA, Philippines – Some may think that Manny Pacquiao has already seen better days. Freddie Roach disagrees.
In a recent promotional video by Top Rank, Pacquiao’s longtime trainer insists that Pacquiao, even at 37 years old, still got what it takes to compete at the top level.
“It is a bright future for Pacquiao right now,” said Roach, who has been preparing Pacquiao in the country for his November 5 tussle with Jessie Vargas
“He’s not near washed up. His work ethic is great,” added the multi-titled cornerman.
Pacquiao is wrapping up his Manila training this week, and is scheduled to fly to Los Angeles on October 22 for the final phase of his preparation.
Roach, for his part, likes what he sees so far in his prized pupil.
“He hasn’t lost a step. He’s still the same Manny Pacquiao I’ve always known and he’s still a great fighter,” said Roach.
