Mayweather on Pacquiao vs Vargas: May the best man win
MANILA, Philippines – Floyd Mayweather Jr. refused to predict the winner for the upcoming tussle between Manny Pacquiao and Jessie Vargas.
Instead, the retired Mayweather wished both fighters the best, even as he pointed out that Pacquiao is one of the best opponents he’s ever fought.
"May the best man win. Out of all the fighters that I've faced throughout my career, Pacquiao is one of the best fighters,” he said in a video posted on fighthype.com.
Mayweather outpointed Pacquiao in what turned out to the most financially successful boxing match in history. So far, he has stayed retired and focused on his new role as a promoter.
But he will always remember the Filipino icon for his remarkable combination of speed and power.
“His (Pacquiao’s) movement, I mean, he's fast. The power comes from the legs and how he turns his shots," added Mayweather.
Nevertheless, Pacquiao’s gifts weren’t enough to beat the best pure boxer of this generation.
