MANILA, Philippines – Another sportsman from Davao City has been tapped by President Duterte to assist the Chief Executive on matters concerning Philippine sports.

Glenn Escandor, a 47-year-old businessman who’s very active in sports, received his appointment papers last week, making him the second Presidential assistant or adviser for sports.

Last July, President Duterte also named Dennis Uy as his Presidential Adviser or Sports.

Escandor, who served as sports consultant for Duterte when the latter was still mayor of Davao City, said there’s no conflict with whoever has been tapped by the President to help sports.

“We will all be complementing to the agenda of the President. We know for a fact that he is against drugs and sports is one vehicle to combat illegal drugs,” said Escandor.

Also last July, Duterte tapped William “Butch” Ramirez as chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission, a position that Ramirez also held under the administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Escandor will serve on a consultative capacity.

“My marching order is to assist him (Duterte) on matters of sports, knowing fully well the dynamics currently existing in the sports landscape” he said.

“It’s service to the country. I hope I can contribute my part to help the President in his programs for sports,” said the current Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas director for Davao.

Escandor is also known in the Davao business sector as owner of the Davao Allied Security and Investigation Agency, the Royal Mandaya Hotel and Matina Enclaves.
