‘Football For Better Life’ unfolds in Dipolog

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Football for a Better Life grassroots program shifts to Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte this weekend with close to 500 participants and teams expected to join the free football clinic and pocket football tournament for local teams.

The Dipolog stop serves as the third leg of the 10-stage program after the successful first two events in Gingoog and in Dumaguete City recently.

Organized by Spears Activation and backed by PRU Life UK as the British life insurance company’s CSR program, the event is held in cooperation with the local government of Dipolog led by Mayor Darel Dexter Uy and the Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog Football Association headed by its president Irvin Banga.

Teams seeing action are those from schools and other football clubs from Dapitan City, Oroquieta, Iligan, Ozamis and the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte, according to Banga.

“We welcome this opportunity to be a partner in football development in the country and to show visiting players what Dipolog has to offer,” said Mayor Uy.
